Sayonara Wild Hearts can actually be deceptively challenging. Don’t let this simple description fool you, however. Sometimes, you’ll have to hit a button for some rhythm-based quick-time events. The closest approximation would be Thumper most levels have you going down a linear path, moving around to avoid obstacles and pick up hearts that give you points.

The Foolĭespite its simple gameplay, Sayonara Wild Hearts is pretty difficult to explain. Well, without further ado, let me tell you why Sayonara Wild Hearts is an absolute must-play (oops, spoiler).

Enter Sayonara Wild Hearts, an indie game developed by Swedish studio Simogo and published by Annapurna Interactive - a publishing house that’s made a name for itself by putting out arthouse, critically-acclaimed indie titles. These days, however, rhythm games are rare, and no game has really taken the throne of my favourite modern rhythm game from Thumper. Needless to say, I’m a big fan of rhythm games. Despite my rather wide taste in video games, I find that I often make a deeper connection with games that make good use of music few things are as exhilarating as the vocalist screaming RULES OF NATURE at me as I’m picking up and throwing a Metal Gear as a cyborg ninja, perfectly timed.
